Teen dies of COVID-19 a day after swab result was out

A 14-year-old girl in Talisay City in Negros Occidental who tested positive for COVID-19 died a day after her RT-PCR result confirmed her infection, according to Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares.

The 14-year-old, who is a resident of Barangay Zone 12A, was swabbed on January 24 and died the next day. According to the mayor, she was asymptomatic and had received her COVID-19 vaccine. However, the mayor stated that the girl has a history of anemia and severe pneumonia. She is Talisay’s 96th COVID fatality.

Lizares sends his sincerest condolences to the family and reminds the public to remain vigilant due to the ongoing threat brought by the coronavirus.

CITY HALL CLOSED
Meanwhile, the local chief executive announced that transactions at City Hall will be temporarily halted beginning today, January 27, until Friday, January 28 to allow for disinfection of the building. Normal business operations will resume on January 31. Yesterday, January 26, the Talisay City Legal Office was also closed to give way for the disinfection of its premises and contact tracing.
