Police investigators are still facing a blank wall as to the motive behind a broad daylight ambush that left one survivor and killed an eighteen-year-old male and his 2 companions in Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, February 20.

The fatalities were identified as Andre Briones Fajardo, 18; Russel Fajardo Bucao, 40; and Rudy Capuyan De La Fuente, 51. Both Fajardo and Bucao died on the spot, while the third victim was declared dead-on-arrival at San Carlos City Hospital. Police identified the lone survivor as Renante Palabrica Chui, 27, who was also rushed to San Carlos City Hospital after sustaining injuries.

The victims were onboard a white Mazda sedan when four unidentified men onboard a still unidentified vehicle open fired at their vehicle, according to an initial report released by the police.

Police investigators are having a hard time in gathering witnesses that could lead to the identification of the suspects despite the scene of the crime is just roughly 2.2 kilometers from the police headquarters because it took place in a remote area and no houses were nearby.
