Seeking to improve its environmental strategies, the local government of Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, conducted a benchmarking visit to San Carlos City on March 6.
A technical working group, including representatives from their Environment and Natural Resources Office, Engineering, Assessor’s, Agriculture, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Planning offices, aimed to study San Carlos’ exemplary Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) and Water Management Plan (WMP).

Tanjay City ENRO Antonio Castillo highlighted the goal of observing and adapting San Carlos’ best practices, particularly in FLUP and Coastal Resource Management (CRM).
During the visit, San Carlos City ENRO Engr. Loreto Sanchez presented the city’s FLUP policies and background, while Melvin Maglayon from the CRM Division discussed their Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) program.
The Tanjay delegation also toured the City Mayor’s Office, Medina Water Treatment Plant, Nabingkalan Indigenous Seedling Producers Association Nursery, and the new command center.
