The Negros Electric and Power Corp. (NEPC) has announced an emergency power interruption of the Sum-ag substation on Tuesday, September 10, due to the deteriorating condition of the 27-year-old power transformer.
The transformer, which is at risk of exploding, poses a significant threat to the city’s power supply, NEPC said.
To prevent a major outage similar to the one caused by the Alijis Substation incident, NEPCO will be conducting proactive maintenance on the Sum-Ag Substation.
The scheduled shutdown will take place from 5AM to 3PM on September 10. However, there will only be a brief power outage of approximately 5 to 15 minutes for the Sum-ag Feeder 1 as its load will be switched to Alijis Feeders 1 and 3.
