Starlite Ferries, a sister company of Supercat Fast Ferry Corporation, shared photos of her maiden voyage from Batangas to Bacolod utilizing a brand-new vessel, M/V Starlite Venus, in its official Facebook post. Originally scheduled to depart from Manila last November 12, the maiden voyage was postponed due to typhoon Ulysses.

Measuring 97.78-meter in length, and with a carrying capacity of 740 passengers, 22 buses, and 6 trucks, the brand new ship was acquired from Japan. This is the company’s 11th brand new RoRo passenger vessel that is made in Japan, and will serve the Bacolod-Iloilo-Batangas route.

With the launch of this first direct RORO trip between Bacolod and Batangas, this will drastically cut travel time and logistic cost as it will bypass the Caticlan, Calapan and Mindoro stop overs, with a stop only in Iloilo port.

Prior to the entry of Starlite Ferries, cargo trucks from and to Negros Occidental have to make several transfers from Batangas, including stops in ports of Mindoro, Calapan and Caticlan, then a land trip to Dumangas in the province of Iloilo to catch a RORO trip to Bacolod.

For passengers, fare starts at P1,900 for a reclining seat; P2,100 for economy bunk bed; P2,300 for tourist bunk bed and P7,500 for a VIP Room. Rolling cargoes meanwhile starts at P6,000 for a motorcycle and P13,500 for private cars.

Passengers bound to Iloilo can also book their trip via M/V Starlite Venus for P288 for an economy seat, P350 for cabin and P1000 for a VIP room. Roro rate for private cars is at P1,960, while for motorcycle it will cost P1,160.

Starlite Ferries is owned and operated by Chelsea, a Udenna company. This newest passenger ferry ship brings Chelsea’s fleet to a total of 74 vessels, consisting of 22 roll-on/roll-off passenger vessels, 11 fastcrafts, 9 cargo ships, 16 tankers, 13 tugboats, and 2 floating docks through its subsidiaries Chelsea Shipping Corp., Starlite Ferries, Inc., Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, Incorporated, and Supercat Fast Ferry Corporation.
