The Social Security System (SSS) Bacolod branch has issued notices of violation to five local establishments for failing to remit nearly P2-million in employee contributions, leaving dozens of workers without crucial social safety nets.

The enforcement was part of the SSS’s nationwide “Run After Contribution Evaders” (RACE) campaign conducted on Tuesday, May 19.

According to Josefa Pineda, SSS Regional Communications Officer, the total delinquency stands at P1,858,835.53, directly affecting 35 employees.

The flagged establishments span various local industries, which include a private school, construction supplier, general contractor, automotive service center and a packaging supplier.

The notices of violation were served on-site by SSS Bacolod Branch Head Brenda Cruz and Harry Solinab of the Operations Legal Department.

The SSS stated that the delinquent employers have been given a strict 15-day grace period to settle their accounts. The agency is offering flexibility, allowing the businesses to pay their obligations either in full or through an approved installment plan.

The SSS reiterated that non-remittance of contributions is a direct violation of Republic Act No. 11199, also known as the Social Security Act of 2018.

Under this law, employers are legally mandated to register their businesses and faithfully remit monthly contributions for their employees. These funds secure vital worker protections, including sickness, maternity, disability, unemployment, and retirement benefits.

Failure to comply within the given 15 days could lead to harsher legal actions, including criminal prosecution against the company owners.
