Vice Mayor Elcid Familiaran of Bacolod City said that the Sanggunian Panlungsod of Bacolod will review the request of the catholic church to shorten the curfew hours to allow the faithful to attend Aguinaldo masses.

The vice mayor said that he supports the spirit growth of the individuals, but the current curfew ordinance hinders churches in holding early morning masses.

The Diocese of Bacolod in its letter to the city government is requesting to adjust the current curfew hours to 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. curfew in consideration of the traditional Aguinaldo Mass in December. Under the revised ordinance, the city is implementing the 10PM-4AM due to a public health emergency.

According to the diocese, the request for the adjustment in curfew hours would allow the catholic church to host at least 2 masses.

Bishop Patricio Buzon in his letter also assured the city that should its request be granted, the church will ensure the strict implementation of the health protocols for the duration of the masses.
