Sipalay promotes investment opportunities at the 8th Belt & Road Summit in Hong Kong

The City of Sipalay under the leadership of Mayor Maria Gina M. Lizares, successfully participated in the 8th Belt and Road Summit, held from September 13-14, at Hall 5FG of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong.

The Belt and Road Summit is a premier international platform for promoting business collaboration along the Belt and Road Initiative. The Summit gathers senior government officials and business leaders from countries and regions along and beyond the Belt and Road to exchange insights on multilateral co-operation and explore concrete business opportunities.

Sipalay City presented investment opportunities for possible investors in the various sectors of tourism, agriculture and fisheries, urban development, and public transportation, and other local private development areas.

The city was represented by Jerick Lacson, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer and Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer – designate from the City Tourism Development and Promotion Office, and Ms. Emily Bondand, Project Development Officer from the City Planning Development Office. The two joined the Western Visayas delegation to the said 2-day investment summit.

This is part of the initiatives of the city government under Mayor Maria Gina M. Lizares to continuously promote Sipalay not just as a tourist haven but also an investment destination.

Sipalay was part of the Western Visayas delegation headed by Hon. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, Bacolod City Mayor and Chairperson of the Regional Development Council (RDC) – 6, with Regional Director Arecio Casing Jr. of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) VI, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Negros Occidental Provincial Director Lynna Joy Cardinal, and other representatives from Bacolod City, Cadiz City, DTI Negros Occidental, NEDA VI, and Board of Investments (BOI).
