Sipalay City Mayor Maria Gina Lizares has fully recovered from COVID-19 after weeks of hospitalization and is now officially back to work.
In a Facebook post Lizares said that after being hospitalized due to COVID she has now fully recovered and is back to work with more energy and inspiration to serve the city.
The lady mayor described her COVID journey as difficult and stressful. She said working from the hospital and home has helped her fight the anxiety and horrors of isolation. It was last month when Lizares confirmed that she tested positive for Covid-19 and initially experienced mild symptoms such as runny nose and cough.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time despite getting his first dose of Sinovac vaccine last April 30. Ko is now on quarantine at the Mambukal Resort in Murcia town. According to Ko he lost his sense of smell on Saturday night and developed a hoarse voice which forced him to have himself swabbed. Ko was first hit by COVID-19 in the first week of April.
As of yesterday, May 18, a total of 46 Capitol employees tested positive of the virus according to Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, but at least 7 employees had fully recovered.
