Sipalay City Mayor Maria Gina M. Lizares received her initial jab of AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 on September 22, the local government confirmed on its Facebook page.

City Health Officer Dr. Florencio O. Juplo administered the vaccination according to the LGU statement.

It was in April of this year when Lizares tested positive of the coronavirus.

As of September 20, 2021, Sipalay City has 4,332 individuals who had completed their full dose of the vaccines (roughly 9% of the total population in the City). To achieve the target of having herd immunity, the city should fully vaccinate 70% of the population.

Lizares continues to encourage all qualified Sipalaynons (at least 18 years old) to get vaccinated too.

Everyone is highly encouraged to get the available vaccine and be protected from COVID-19. Listen and learn from the experts, the statement added.
