Sipalay City received numerous citations yesterday from two (2) separate awards program in Iloilo City and Bacolod City on May 17.
During the Pagdayaw 2023 Appreciation Night of Department of Tourism (DOT) Region VI at Zuri Hotel, Iloilo City, Sipalay was cited with two recognitions for its contribution especially in terms of tourist arrival and tourism accreditation.
The following are the awards:
- Top Contributing Cities in Tourist Arrivals (Overnight Stay Tourists) Report in Western Visayas for CY 2022
- Campaign for Accreditation of Tourism Establishments in Western Visayas for CY 2022
Engr. Praem Mediodia, EA on Tourism and Education, Mr. Jerick Lacson, Tourism Officer, and Ms. Jenny Soliven of the Tourism Office received the awards.
Meanwhile at L’ Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City, Sipalay’s Tourism Officer, Mr. Jerick Lacson was one of the nominees during the Gawad Agustino 2023 of Colegio San Agustin Bacolod. Mr. Nimrod Pillones received the recognition on his behalf.
The awards are proof of the commitment and efforts of Sipalay City under the dynamic leadership Mayor Maria Gina M. Lizares to continuously develop and improve the local tourism industry of Sipalay City, the tourism office said in a statement.
Sipalay City is a coastal city located in the western part of Negros Occidental. It is known for its beautiful beaches and clear waters.
