The Bacolod-Silay Airport is undergoing a significant facelift, with a P41.851 million renovation of its passenger terminal building currently underway.

The upgrade, funded through the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) 2024 Annual Procurement Plan, aims to address issues of congestion and improve passenger experience.
The renovation project, which was bid out in July of last year and is expected to be completed within 360 calendar days, encompasses a wide range of improvements across the airport’s 13,469.18 square meter terminal.
Structural work includes the removal and disposal of existing roofing sheets, ceiling panels, lighting fixtures, wires, and conduits. The project also covers architectural, electrical, and mechanical upgrades.
This current renovation is part of a larger plan to enhance the Bacolod-Silay Airport.
Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez revealed that the CAAP and the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) have previously committed a total of P400 million for the airport’s overall improvement. CAAP pledged P200 million for terminal renovation, while TIEZA committed P200 million for runway enhancement.
However, with recent changes in CAAP leadership, Benitez has expressed his intention to follow up on the pledged funds.
“Since there is a changing of the guard in CAAP, I will follow it up. The last director general committed P200 million to renovate the airport. I will contact them again to implement their commitment,” he said.
