Senator Bong Go reiterates his call in the Senate for the establishment of the Department of Disaster Resilience.

Go urged his fellow senators to act on the proposed measure after typhoon Quinta that caused heavy winds and rains left millions in damage to infrastructure, agricultural crops and livestock.

“Madalas pong tamaan ng bagyo, lindol at iba pang kalamidad ang ating bansa. Kailangan na talaga nating i-scale up ang preparedness to resiliency against disasters,” he stressed.

He said that with the creation of the DDR, a new department with a secretary in charge would ensure more focused government efforts during disasters.

In Negros Occidental, Provincial Agriculture and Veterinary Offices reported more than P36 million damages to agricultural crops and farm animals in cities of Sipalay Cadiz Bago & La Carlota; and municipalities of Valladolid, San Enrique, Isabela, Binalbagan, Moises Padilla & Hinoba-an.
