San Carlos lgu, NGO reps to undergo ICM Planning Workshop

Representatives of the local government of San Carlos City, national agencies, non-government organization (NGO) including the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) in Negros Occidental will undergo Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) Planning Workshop on March 15-17, 2022.

This was mentioned by Maria Elena San Jose, Supervising Environment Specialist- Technical Support Division Head of PEMO during their courtesy visit to City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo yesterday, Feb. 16.

San Jose said the ICM focuses on the comprehensive ridge to reef approach as sustainable mechanism in the protection and preservation of the environment as well as compliance to the national mandate.

Melvin Maglayon, Conservation Fellow and Community Development Assistant of CEMO also said that San Carlos will probably be the first city in Negros Occidental to implement ICM after the planning workshop.

Engr. Loreto Sanchez, City Environment Management Natural Resources Officer accompanied San Jose, Forester Jose Marie Abalahon and Community Development Assistants Rusiel Placio and Evelyn Cielo of PEMO during their visit to the mayor.
