San Carlos Indigay sa Talento returns to stage

The longest-running local competition of San Carlos City, the Indigay sa Talento, returned to the stage on June 24, 2023, at the Trade Fair Activity Area, SJRI Grounds.

The event, which was organized by the City Tourism Office, featured two categories: Pop Dance and Pop Song. A total of 12 talented individuals from San Carlos City and neighboring places of the Municipality of Toboso and Canlaon City participated in the competition.

In the Pop Dance Competition, The Burning Phoenix impressed the spectators and judges with their mix of ’80s and ’90s grooves. The group took home the crown and a P15,000 cash prize.

The Curvatiks from the Municipality of Toboso was second place winner with P10,000, and D’ Squad Fam, in third place bagged the P7,000 cash prize.

On the other hand, Jocelyn Bandiola of Canlaon City wowed the audience with her rendition of Narito Ako by Regine Velasquez on her final performance. She won the Pop Song Competition with a cash prize of P10,000.

San Carloseños Katrina Carvajal and Jhon Bernard Bayon-on placed 2nd and 3rd with cash prizes of P7,000 and P5,000, respectively.

Consolation prize winners received P5,000 for the Pop Dance and P3,000 for the Pop Song.

San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo also graced the event and added a cash prize of P2,000 for Pop Dance contenders and P1,000 for Pop Song contestants.

Competition Judges Municipality of Toboso Tourism Officer Jose Robe Kanke, Master Teacher II Cris Canoy Palmones, and Manila-based PadyakPH House Dance Community Member Virnie Clarion commended the performances and talents of the contestants, saying that they gave them a hard time choosing the winners.

The Indigay sa Talento is a platform for local talents to showcase their skills and talents. It is also a way to promote the city’s vibrant culture and arts scene.
