San Carlos hosts Rebisco volleyball league

San Carlos City hosted the Rebisco Volleyball League 2022 Western Visayas Regional Finals for girls 18 and under category from Sept. 7-8, 2022 at the City Auditorium.

A total of 11 teams participated in the event which include Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School, Himamaylan National High School and La Paz National High School, Iloilo; Hua Siong College of Iloilo, Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School, Talisay City; St. John’s Institute, Bacolod City; Sta. Barbara National Comprehensive High School, Iloilo City; Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School, La Carlota City; Bacolod Tay Tung High School; Colegio De Sto. Tomas-Recoletos, San Carlos City and Trinity Christian School, Bacolod City. 

Johanz Buenvuenida, Rebisco Tournament Director said they chose San Carlos City as venue for the tournament because the LGU-San Carlos is very supportive of sports games including volleyball games. He also thanked the city officials, especially City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo. 

He said that the volleyball league is a grassroots level development program of the Rebisco Philippines aimed at developing the less privileged youth. 

He added that they intend to make the Rebisco Volleyball League as the melting pot of volleyball superstars in the future, that they have been holding volleyball league since 2017 but was only stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

He added that the regional champions will represent their respective region in the National Rebisco Volleyball League on December 9-14, 2022 in Sta. Rosa City Multi-Purpose Complex, Province of Laguna.
