The San Carlos City Hospital in coordination with Red Cross-San Carlos held a bloodletting activity last Aug. 10 at the said hospital’s Hemodialysis Center.

A total of 36 out of 89 master-listed individuals were able to successfully donate their blood with types A, B, AB, and O.

Acting City Hospital Chief Mary Genevieve Montaño said the activity was part of the Department of Health’s (DOH) Birth Plan for all pregnant women, wherein their husbands, relatives, or friends should donate for immediate access to blood in case of emergency during delivery.

Donors also underwent necessary screening procedures before donating such as blood pressure checks and blood tests including a review of their health history to ensure that they are fit.

Said activity is in line with the hospital’s observance of the National Hospital Week from Aug. 8-12, 2022.
