The local government of San Carlos City has apportioned P2.5M from its budget for areas in the 6th District of Negros Occidental badly affected by Typhoon Odette on December 16.

Charlen Pol Bistis-Anlap, Admin Officer III of the City Mayor’s Office said that the local government led by San Carlos City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo will use the amount in purchasing goods to be donated in six areas including Cities of Kabankalan, Sipalay and Municipalities of Ilog, Candoni, Cauayan and Hinoba-an.

On Dec. 24, Anlap together with volunteers of the local government and private sector delivered essential goods to Kabankalan and Ilog. Each area received 120 boxes or 2,880 pcs of bottled water, 75 boxes or 7,500 cans of sardines, 85 pcs. of 5-gallon bottled water and 425 pcs. 1-liter bottled water.

Anlap said the donations were received by Representative Mercedes Alvarez of the 6th District of Negros Occidental, Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro P. Zayco Jr. and Ilog Municipal Mayor John Paul Alvarez.

She said the various goods were from the LGU and private individuals and refilling stations (Aquafit, Den Drops and Blue House Water) in the city and served as the first relief operation while they are still waiting for more supplies so they can proceed to distributing essential goods also to Sipalay and Cauayan.

Mayor Gustilo said the donation is his way of showing the people that the city can still help those areas with high casualties even if San Carlos City was also hit by Typhoon Odette.
