Twenty-four years old Glenn Baloro, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, is on a mission to empower solo parents and help them thrive despite their struggles. Inspired by a friend’s experiences and challenges, Glenn recognized the need to support and uplift solo parents who raise their families alone.

Glenn, who identifies as a lakanbini—a combination of the Filipino words for “male ruler” and “muse”—advocates for solo parents and strives to provide them with opportunities for growth. Thanks to the power of the internet and reliable connectivity from PLDT and Smart Communications Inc., Glenn has been able to efficiently communicate with solo parents and connect with partners who can help advance his advocacy.

By collaborating with barangay officials and other organizations, Glenn works tirelessly to link solo parents with resources and support systems that can improve their lives and livelihoods. He acknowledges the importance of staying connected, both online and offline, to fulfill his duties as a lakanbini and advocate for the welfare of others.

Glenn believes that the internet is a vital tool, much like a reliable partner, enabling him to connect with various sectors and promote safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ community. Through online platforms, he educates people about acceptance and the importance of embracing diversity.

PLDT and Smart are committed to expanding their fixed and wireless networks to enhance customer experiences throughout the country. The companies prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion, aligning with their commitment to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal No. 5: Gender Equality.
