The purok president of Purok Kingfisher in Barangay 16 who was rescued from a fire that razed 18 houses on August 1, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning, August 5, Brgy. Capt. Jason Ligaya confirmed.
Alejandro Tiad, 49, died at Riverside Medical Center due to severe burns that he sustained during the fire.
In a statement, Ligaya said: “We are deeply saddened to hear that one of our beloved brothers, Alejandro Tiad, has passed away this morning (August 5). On behalf of the council, staff, and residents of Barangay 16, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Alejandro Tiad.”
We mourn the loss of his presence and the countless contributions he made to our neighborhood, he added.
Tiad who had initially escaped the burning house reportedly went back inside to check on one of his children and retrieve some belongings, said Bacolod Fire Marshal Supt. Jenny Mae Masip. Firefighters later found him unconscious inside the house with severe burns.
The barangay captain appealed for help for Tiad’s five children to continue their education. The Barangay 16 Council, staff, and residents expressed deep sorrow over Tiad’s passing, describing him as a cherished member of the community.
The Barangay 16 Sangguniang Kabataan also called for support from the community to help Tiad’s family cope with the loss and continue their children’s education.
