Province extends assistance to flood-stricken communities

Gov. Bong Lacson has directed the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) to extend assistance to the local government units in Northern Negros, which were adversely stricken by flood brought about by the long-week monsoon rains that also affected many regions of the country.

The PSWDO provided relief assistance to augment the aid and basic services provided by the respective LGUs, after the conduct of massive evacuation.

PSWDO personnel initially distributed relief items such as boxes of bottled water, 50 boxes of sardines, 75 sacks of rice, and sets of non-food items that included blankets, towels, plastic mats, tarpaulins, among others.

According to PSWDO Report, there are a total of 59 affected barangays from the cities of Talisay, Silay, Victorias, Cadiz, Escalante, and E.B. Magalona town, and the affected families has reached 21,657 as of January 11, 2021.

The PSWDO continues to monitor and coordinate with the respective local social welfare and development offices of each LGUs.
