Former Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan on Saturday, October 23, declared that he is finally vindicated from allegations that he is involved in illegal drug trade that almost caused his life.
Tan in a press conference streamed on his official Facebook account said that no less than President Rodrigo Duterte approved the certification issued by the Department of Interior and Local Government that delisted his name from the database.
“Today marks my complete freedom from all the fake news against me and my family,” the former number 1 councilor of Bacolod said. Tan received the copy of the clearance signed DILG secretary Eduardo Año just recently.
The clearance certified that Tan was removed/delisted from the Inter-Agency Drug Information database upon properly review, evaluation, and recommendation of the said agency and was approved by the president through a memorandum dated July 31, 2021.
Speaking before reporters in his arranged press conference from his resort in Campuestohan, Tan thanked Duterte for the objective review of his situation, adding that this puts a closure to a bad dream.
He concluded: “justice has been served and the buck stops here… It is justice in black and white.”
Tan has filed his candidacy for city councilor of Bacolod for the 2022 election with the campaign message, “Cano Gwapo indi kawatan”.
