Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, the current chief of hospital at the Dr. Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, has been officially appointed as an Undersecretary of the Department of Health by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The announcement was made public through a Malacañang bulletin on June 24.
Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, who previously engaged the services Maestral as his consultant for his healthcare program, commended Maestral for her commitment to the medical field.
He emphasized that her expertise and experience will be invaluable assets to the health bureau.
As the head of TLJPH, Maestral has transitioned the hospital into a teaching facility and has recently been licensed to operate as a 200-bed institution, reflecting her capability to manage and enhance healthcare operations.
Her departure from TLJPH is not expected to create a vacuum, as according to her the hospital has a well-structured succession system. This system ensures continuity in leadership and maintains the hospital’s momentum in providing top-notch healthcare services.
