Twenty-year old single mom Franches Anne Laquiba of Pontevedra town in Negros Occidental was crowned as the inaugural Miss Universe Philippines Negros at the SMX Convention Center, last night, November 24.
Laquiba is passionate about promoting body diversity. She aims to challenge societal beauty standards and encourage individuals to embrace their unique qualities. Her advocacy is deeply personal, as she has firsthand experience with the negative impact of self-doubt and unrealistic beauty ideals.
“Joining this pageant as a mother is not just about embracing my journey; it’s about inspiring others to chase their dreams fearlessly, regardless of their roles or life stages,” she said. “We should celebrate all body types and focus on self-acceptance rather than conforming to unrealistic standards. True beauty is found in embracing who you are.”
Beyond her pageant aspirations, Laquiba dreams of becoming a successful businesswoman. She envisions using her platform to create initiatives that foster body positivity and inclusivity. By partnering with organizations in Bacolod and Negros Occidental, she hopes to establish a supportive network for those struggling with body image issues.
“I am here to create change—not just for myself, but for everyone who has ever felt that they weren’t enough,” she added.
Althea Nicole Gadingan of Talisay was named first runner-up, followed by Patricia Ysabel Galapino of Ilog as second runner-up, Mary Angelique Faye Caballero of Cinco, Silay as third runner-up, and Bernie Larit of Bago City as fourth runner-up.
Meanwhile, Louise Lian Enumerable Bobe of Murcia was appointed Miss Universe Philippines Bacolod.
