The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather advisory warning of moderate to heavy rains (50-100 mm) starting today, July 17, up until the 19th due to a Low Pressure Area (LPA) affecting several regions across the Philippines.

The advisory particularly highlights the Negros Island, alongside other areas in Visayas, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and parts of Mindanao.

PAGASA anticipated moderate to heavy rains across the Negros Island until tomorrow, July 18, but Negros Occidental may continue to experience moderate to heavy rains until Friday, July 19.

Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides remain likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and areas with significant antecedent rainfall, the weather bureau underscored.

PAGASA strongly advises the public and disaster risk reduction management offices to take all necessary precautions to protect life and property.
