Starting today, March 27, Bacolod City government employees will no longer have free access to entertainment on television sets during office hours as the General Services Office (GSO) has pulled out some of the 133 television sets in all offices on orders of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.

This decision came after Benitez caught 5 employees watching a TV program at the City Treasurer’s Office during working hours.

But there will be exemption in some offices were the use of the TV set is necessary. City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III said that they will review whether certain offices will be exempt from this policy, such as the Public Information Office, which uses TV sets to monitor news.

Maghari also emphasized that all department heads must coordinate with the GSO for proper procedures in returning the TVs, especially those that were donated or not owned by the government.
