With only one day remaining before Manokan Country at the Reclamation Area shuts down, the city government has solidified its position by refusing to engage in further negotiations with the affected stall owners.
City Legal Officer Atty. Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. reiterated that no further dialogue will take place between the local government and the tenants. Instead, he advised the Manokan Country tenants to seek alternative legal advise regarding their plans to file charges against the city. This advice, he said, is aimed at avoiding unnecessary legal expenses and waste of time for the vendors.
Ting emphasized that there is no documentation or proof that the Manokan Country or the Ferrero Street hold any official designation as cultural heritage sites.
July 5 marks the final day of operation for Manokan Country. Fencing of the area is scheduled to begin on July 6.
Should the Manokan tenants choose not to occupy the temporary space offered within the SM Terminal Hub, the decision on how to utilize it will lie solely with SM.
