The online community has successfully raised funds to pay off the tuition of a graduating pyschology student of University of St. La Salle after a call for donation was organized by her classmates on Facebook.

Samantha (NNO withhled her last name for privacy), who struggled financially since losing her mother during the pandemic and later her stepfather’s job, has been working part-time as an Enlish as Second Language teacher to support herself. Seeing her struggle, her classmate in section ABPS 4B, launched an online campaign aimed to raise P23,000 to cover her outstanding enrollment fees and allow her to file for a promissory note.

In just 48 hours, the online community collectively contributed and raised ₱46,000.

In their call for donations, her classmates expressed: “Despite her struggles, she has maintained an impressive academic record and is even in the running for Latin Honors.”

They added: “She’s so close to graduating. She deserves to graduate. She deserves to wear that toga, and finally say she made it after all she’s been through.”

Francine Nikole Romo, a classmate, took charge of collecting the donations via GCash, ensuring transparency and accountability for the funds. The excess from the donations, according to them, will be used to help Samantha repay other debts and ease her financial burden.

In a post, Samantha expressed her heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed.

She said: “I’m not usually the type to post things like this, but grabe gid, you’ve all touched my heart in ways I can’t fully express,” she wrote. “Your support reminded me that I’m not alone in this journey.”

She specifically acknowledged her section, ABPS 4B, for their unwavering support. “You were the first ones who moved without hesitation, organized everything, and made this all possible,” Samantha shared. “You didn’t just help me enroll — you gave me hope.”
