A newborn infant was found alive last night, June 8, abandoned in a public jeepney in Barangay Zone 8, Talisay City.

In an interview over Bombo Radyo Bacolod, Marichu Clavecillas, who reported the discovery of the baby girl, recounted that her friend noticed the baby after hearing a cry and immediately called her over. The baby was wrapped in clothing and placed inside a cardboard box, which had been left on the passenger seat of a jeepney plying the Talisay route. When they opened the box, they found the infant.

They immediately brought the baby to the Punong Barangay (village chief), who then called for an ambulance.

The newborn was turned over to the Talisay City Health Office, where doctors are now attending to her. The infant has been cleaned, and its umbilical cord has been cut. Authorities believe the baby may have been born around 7:00 PM on June 8.

The incident is currently under investigation. There are no CCTV cameras in the area where the baby was found, and the identity of the person who abandoned the newborn remains unknown.
