Employers in Western Visayas, including Negros Occidental, are now mandated to implement new, higher minimum wage rates.

The new wage order, Wage Order No. RBVI-28, took effect on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The new minimum wage raises the daily salary of non-agriculture, industrial and commercial worker to P513/day. Meanwhile, agricultural workers will receive P40 a day.

The new wage order also mandated to raise the month salary of house help to P6,000 per month.

Labor Regional Director Sixto Rodriguez Jr. urged all employers to comply with the new wage order.

For micro and small businesses seeking exemption, they can visit the Department of Labor and Employment’s provincial offices to obtain information and application forms.
