A 34-year-old lineman contracted by Negros Power & Electric Corporation (NEPC) tragically lost his life on September 17, leaving his two young daughters, ages 7 and 9, fatherless.

Jessie James Torremocha, a resident of Davao City, had left his hometown on August 16 to join NEPC as a third-party contractor armed with his experienced having work in Davao as a lineman.

Just a week before departing for his assignment in Bacolod, Torremocha shared a heartfelt post on Facebook, accompanied by a photo of himself with his wife and two daughters. In the caption, he wrote: “maningamot ko para sa inyoha” (I will work harder for you), expressing his dedication and determination to provide for his family.

But on Sunday, amid heavy downpour and while working on clearing a line obstructed by trees along the Circumferential Road, he fell from a tree. NEPC said he fell while attempting to secure his harness, suffering severe injuries that led to his unconsciousness.

Despite medical intervention, he breathed his last at 9 PM on September 17 in the Intensive Care Unit of the Metro Bacolod Hospital, shortly after his wife arrived at his bedside.

NEPC has expressed its condolences to Torremocha’s family.

In a statement it said: “Jessie James was a devoted lineman, who lost his life in a tragic incident while diligently working to restore the power after a severe weather condition. Jessie James was an epitome of a true Line Warrior embodying dedication and bravery.”

We are truly grateful for his service and commitment, the statement added.
