The Negros Electric & Power Corporation (NEPC) has announced that it will be shutting down the entire Burgos feeder on September 7 to conduct a preventive maintenance of the 69KV transmission line.

In a statement, NEPC said using a thermal scanner, they discovered hotspots on the 69KV transmission line that connects from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines substation in Brgy. Mansilingan to Brgy. Bata serving electric consumers under its Burgos substation.

The company said the immediate shutdown will allow its team to conduct a preventive maintenance to avoid a more widespread and prolonged power interruption or brownout. If the line were to break due to the high temperature, it could cause a power outage that would last for a longer period of time, the power distribution company explained.

During the preventive maintenance, consumers served by the Burgos Substation will be temporarily without electricity from 2AM to 5AM.
