More than 2,000 members of the Metro Bacolod Muslim Community, led by its newly elected president Khalid Daligdig Lumna, officially endorsed the reelection bids of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Congressional bet Dan Atayde and the rest of the Grupo Progreso slate during the induction ceremony of its newly elected officers at the Acacia Hotel, January 18.

Lumna and the mayor led the ceremonial induction and oath-taking of 27 officers, including board of directors and advisers.

“In behalf of the Metro Bacolod Muslim Community, my officers and members, I am endorsing the candidacy of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Dan Atayde and the rest of the Grupo Progreso slate,” Lumna said as he called for unity in supporting the candidacy of the Leonardia-led alliance.

“We are here today for one mission: To continue the legacy of our forefathers since 1960s. Our ancestors were small in numbers but they were united and they loved each other and the result is they were able to give legacies.

One of them is the first Mosque in the Visayas region which is located in Barangay 21,” Lumna added.

Leonardia assured the community that as soon as the pandemic is over, Bacolod will get back on track with the same speed that it had already proven in the past.

“Let us go march to progress, development and prosperity together,” Leonardia said.
