The Bacolod City government received today, May 11, an additional of 19,420 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said this is part of the 127,000 AstraZeneca doses allocated by the national government to Western Visayas.
As of May 10, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and COVID-19 Vacccination Council (CoVaC) have administered a total of 13,659 doses of vaccines to Bacolodnons, according to EOC executive director and City Administrator Em Ang.
The city has an ongoing vaccination for persons under A3 and senior citizens at Ayala Malls and SMX Convention Center.
Leonardia has requested the national government to allocate more vaccines for Bacolod, citing the urgent need to inoculate more residents amid the continued spike in local cases.
In his May 5, 2021 letter to Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., chief implementer of the National Task Force for COVID-19, Leonardia said, “We most respectfully request for an increase in our allocation of vaccines from the national government, as we are being hit hard by this new wave of COVID-19 infections.”
