A government-owned molecular laboratory in Valladolid town is now 90% ready and is expected to commence its operations by mid of January 2021.
This will be the second molecular laboratory under the provincial government of Negros Occidental, next to Teresita Jalandoni in Silay, according to Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.
At present, health personnel of the laboratory are now undergoing training in Teresita Jalandoni while it awaits the opening of the lab.
With the opening of this second lab, the provincial government will now be able to handle another 1,000 specimen on a daily basis.
It was in June 1, when Teresita Jalandoni secured a certification from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine of the Department of Health to perform an independent testing for COVID-19.
