Mayors from towns and cities in Negros Occidental unanimously support the proposed transfer of the provincial Capitol offices from Bacolod City to Talisay City during an online meeting with Gov. Eugenio Lacson, yesterday, January 13.

Lacson said the mayors are expected to convert their sentiments into a resolution during the Association of Chief Executives meeting. The resolution will then be forwared to the Sanggunian Panlungsod for the conduct of the public hearing.

He added that part of the consultation is also to get the side of the business sector on the proposed transfer.

If everything turns out well, Lacson said they will then request the contractor to revise its plan. The construction is expected to start this year and could take three years to complete, he added.

Lacson earlier proposed to build the close to 1 billion new Provincial Administration Center at a 25-hectare property owned by the province along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road in Talisay.

The project was previously awarded to Dynamic Builders and Construction Co. for the redevelopment of PAC’s existing property along Aguinaldo Street.
