Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez is eyeing a bigger role for his running mate, Atty. Caesar Distrito, who lost the vice mayoralty race in the 2022 elections.

Benitez, who was elected on his first term as mayor, did not disclose what role he will offer to Distrito.

Distrito, a former councilor, broke his ties with former mayor Evelio Leonardia’s Grupo Progreso at the last election. He ran for vice mayor under Benitez’s slate, but lost to Leonardia’s running mate, Elcid Familiaran.

Meanwhile, Benitez also announced that he will be assigning former Board Member Patrick Lacson to traffic. Lacson, who ran as Bacolod councilor but lost, is known for his expertise in traffic management.

Benitez also said that he will be assigning former councilors Sonya Verdeflor to social services, Homer Bais to the Isugid Mo kay Mayor Program, and Bart Orola to market and slaughterhouse concerns.
