Talisaynon will have an extra long weekend, which will start today after President Rodrigo Duterte declared this day, February 11, as holiday.
Malacañang through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea has signed Proclamation No. 1094 declaring Feb. 11, a special non working holiday, in celebration of the city’s 23rd charter anniversary. The day after, Feb. 12, is also a holiday in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Despite of the COVID-19 pandemic, Malacañang said: “It is but fitting and proper that the people of the Coty og Talisay be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the ocassion, with appropriate ceremonies.”
The same proclamation also reminded Talisaynon to observe minimim health protocol in the course of its celebration.
In Feb. 11, 1998, Republic Act 8498 was passed into a law which converted the once Municipality of Talisay into a component city. It is a 4th class component city in the province of Negros Occidental.
