The Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation formally appointed Sr. Joan Brigida Corazon S. Infante, OSA, as the new president of La Consolacion College Bacolod.

Sr. Infante took the new role after a simple prayer service held last Friday, June 20, witnessed by key school officials.

Sr. Infante, 51, was first assigned as Vice President for Academic Affairs of LCC Bacolod in 2019. She succeeds Sr. Maria A. Garcia, OSA who will become the president of La Consolacion College Unified System in Caloocan, Metro Manila.

Since her assignment in LCC Bacolod, Sr. Infante facilitated the revision of curriculum in the higher education level programs to better align them with the most recent policies, standards, and guidelines issued by the Commission on Higher Education and encouraged emphasis of multilingual and intercultural education through foreign language courses and enhancement of arts appreciation curriculum. Among her goals is to provide students with more options to pursue specialized training through the Center of Music, Arts, and Culture. She believes in the importance of a holistic approach to education which should address the psychological, physiological, and intellectual needs of students.

“In order for students to succeed in the world today, they must develop agility and creativity, thus it is important that education in LCC Bacolod must be integrated and provide students with varied opportunities to excel”, she said.

Prior to her assignment in LCC Bacolod, Sr. Infante was assigned to a mission in Sydney, Australia where she taught for three years. She then went on to pursue graduate education in Belgium at the KU Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven). She spent her first four years completing masters in theology and sacred theology where she graduated with latin honors in both programs. This merited her additional scholarships for the doctorate programs in theology and sacred theology.

Concurrent with her assignment, Sr. Infante is also the chair of the Association of Schools of Augustinian Sisters in Negros island.

VP for Personnel and Alumni Relations, Dr. Romela Aujero said that the administration of LCC Bacolod welcomes the appointment of Sr. Infante as president and expresses their gratitude to the congregation for appointing a sister-leader who already has familiarity with the organization and culture of the institution. “We are hopeful that LCC Bacolod will continue to thrust forward under the leadership of Sr. Infante, with her strong commitment and passion to enhance the quality of programs and services for the benefit of our students and community”, she said.
