The town of La Castellana has taken a significant step toward housing recovery by making a partial payment of P1.2 million for a new relocation site in Barangay Robles.

The eight-hectare property, situated in Hacienda Bacsay, is intended to provide permanent homes for residents who were displaced when Typhoon Tino destroyed their dwellings. According to Town Information Officer Remuel Lajo, the purchase was funded directly from the municipality’s own local budget.

Efforts to develop the site are currently moving forward, with the processing of essential documents already in progress.

Technical teams, including representatives from the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative and land surveyors, have conducted site inspections to prepare for utility installation and layout. Additionally, local officials are working to secure the necessary right-of-way access to ensure the new community is properly connected to main roads.
