Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island rumbled 42 times in the past 24 hours, according to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), released today, July 3.
The volcano remains under Alert Level 2, indicating increased unrest with sulfur dioxide flux reaching 5,083/tonnes on July 2.
PHIVOLCS reminds the public that Kanlaon could experience sudden phreatic eruptions and urges strict adherence to safety measures. This includes staying out of the four-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and avoiding aircraft flights near the volcano.
