The Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) has confirmed reports of ashfall reaching various barangays in the city following the recent volcanic activity of Kanlaon Volcano.
According to the DRRMO, ash particles, carried by rainfall, have been observed in the following areas: Barangay 9, Barangay 21, Barangay 33, Barangay Mansilingan, Barangay Singcang Airport, and Barangay Villamonte.

Some unconfirmed reports of notable ashfall were also observed at the carpark area of SM Bacolod, Burgos Market, Homesite, and Barangay Estefania.
In light of this development, the Bacolod DRRMO is urging residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being. These measures include limiting outdoor exposure, using face masks or damp cloths to cover the nose and mouth, keeping windows and doors closed to prevent ash from entering homes, and protecting water sources from contamination.
The DRRMO in an FB post is also calling on residents who are experiencing ashfall in their respective locations to report it by providing their barangay and street (optional), along with any photos, in the comments section of their advisory. This information will help the authorities and fellow residents stay informed about the extent of the ashfall and take appropriate action, it said.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as needed. Residents are advised to remain alert and prioritize their safety.
