The City of Kabankalan has decided to cancel the annual Sinulog Festival tribal parade and competition due to the global pandemic.
The festival organizers come up with the decision after a meeting was held between the Sinulog Foundation and Mayor Pedro Zayco of Kabakalan last January 6.
But the religious aspect of the festival, which is to celebrate the Feast of the Child Jesus will continue, according to a statement released by the city.
The Novenario will commenced at 5PM today, January 8, at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and it will run until January 17.
The local government appeals to devotees to strictly follow the minimum health protocols, including the wearing of facemask & shield and observe physical distancing during the celebration.
Meanwhile, the City of Cadiz is yet to issue a statement regarding the hosting of this year’s Dinagsa Festival.
