Iloilo-Bcd commercial trips uncertain

It remains to be seen if commercial sea travel between the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod via fastcraft will resume soonest despite the executive orders issued by the 2 mayors allowing commercial travel.

Weesam Operations Manager, Frank Carbon, has doubts that fastcraft operators will be able to sustain the business due to the lack of unified health protocols in the region for traveling individuals, which will impact on the volume of passengers.

He cited that while the cities of Bacolod and Iloilo are open to accept travellers who have business in both cities, the province of Negros Occidental on the other hand is requiring a negative RT-PCR result before it accepts returning residents bound to cities and town outside of Bacolod.

Currently, FastCat is the sole fastcraft that ferry commercial passengers between the 2 cities as it continues to operate its roll-on, roll-off from Banago port in Bacolod.
