The municipality of Hinoba-an in Negros Occidental has strengthened its border control following the confirmation of an African swine fever (ASF) case in Negros Oriental.
A border check point has been set-up in Barangay Sangke, the southernmost barangay in Negros Occidental and borders the municipality of Basay in Negros Oriental.
The border checkpoint is conducting inspections of all vehicles and cargo entering the municipality.
ASF is a highly contagious and fatal disease that affects pigs. There is no known cure for ASF and the only way to prevent the spread of the disease is to control the movement of pigs and pork products.
