In a surprise move, the Governor of Negros Occidental has revamped the executive committee (execom) of the Panaad sa Negros Festival, just two months before the festival’s return.

In an executive order signed by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson last February 13 and was released yesterday, Lacson announced the revamp with new set of individuals taking over the key positions in the execom, including the chairman and the festival director.

Lacson has designated Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl F. Decena festival director, an assignment that she will handle for the first time since joining the tourism office as department head.

Decena is taking over the post from Eng’r. Jose Maria Amugod, who was initially named as festival director. Amugod has been reassigned by Lacson to lead the logistic team instead.

The governor’s 3-page executive order stated that in order to guarantee a smooth and successful execution of the event, it is necessary to revamp the various committees responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and supervising the festival’s different programs and events.

The Panaad sa Negros Festival is an annual cultural and tourism event that celebrates the province’s diverse cultural heritage and history.
