Bacolod lone district congressman Greg Gasataya files his certificate of candidacy for his re-election as congressman today, October 4, at the Commission on Election in Bacolod.
Gasatya was joined by lawyer Mark Mayo, who is seeking a seat for the city council.
Gasataya decided to split from Grupo Progreso as part of his decision to stay neutral in the mayoralty race that will be between his wedding “ninongs” Mayor Evelio Leonardia and businessman Albee Benitez.
In a previous statement, he said: “My decision is ultimately premised on the realization of the Bacolod City General Hospital, which will start construction next year in the midst of election season, in the midst of a pandemic. We can all agree that we need a hospital in these most critical of times. Our healing greatly depends on it.”
