Senator Bong Go and Silay Mayor Joedith Gallego broke ground for a P10 million super health center (SHC) in Silay City on June 7.

The SHC will offer various health services to the residents and help decongest the provincial hospital.

The SHC is a medium-sized clinic that provides general and specialist examinations and treatments for outpatients. It is larger than a rural health unit but smaller than a hospital.

The facility has the capacity to accommodate mothers who are giving birth. Additionally, residents can receive dental care, x-rays and vaccines.

Go also gave P3,000 each to 2,000 Silay fisherfolk and farmers through the DSWD.

Go, who chairs the Senate health committee, said he supports the appointment of Dr. Teodoro Herbosa as the new health secretary.

He urged him to prioritize the poor and improve the health care system amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also said he trusts Herbosa to handle the COVID-19 situation well as he was part of the IATF under President Duterte.
