A gigantic billboard of Globe Telecom is up along Cor. Lacson-BS Aquino Drive announcing its upgraded mobile internet connection to 5G. This as Dito Telecommunity began to turn on its cell towers around the city with promising download speed of 50Mbs based on speedtest result posted by intial users on the social media.
According to Globe, its 5G service can offer a speed of up to 20x faster than LTE with fiber-fast speeds of up to 100 Mbps. It has an almost real-time latency allowing faster response time needed for new technologies.
5G’s data signals travel through data frequencies across three different spectrums: low-band (great area coverage), mid-band (smaller area coverage), and low-band (lowest area coverage). Unlike 4G and LTE that make use of two spectrum bands, 5G utilizes all three, according to information from Globe’s website.
