Fortuner SUV-tricycle collision kills two

Two people were killed and three others, including a tricycle driver, were injured in a fatal vehicular collision in Bacolod City early Tuesday morning, October 21.

The incident occurred at the intersection of B.S. Aquino Drive and Gatuslao Street in Barangay 3.

Involve in the accident was a black Toyota Fortuner, driven by a minor from La Castellana, Negros Occidental. According to police investigation, the vehicle was traveling from south to north when it crashed into a black Kawasaki Barako tricycle driven by Openiano Ayco Jr. of Talisay City.

The sheer force of the impact resulted in the instantaneous death of two tricycle passengers that police identified as Cheralyn Poja and Redilla Gamgam.

The tricycle driver, Openiano Ayco Jr., and two other passengers, Crislyn Joy Poja and Roda Tipon, sustained injuries. All three injured victims were immediately rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

The police have confirmed that both the vehicles involved and the minor driver of the Fortuner are currently under the custody of Bacolod Police Station 2 as the investigation proceeds.
